The Amazon

The Amazon rainforest is not only the birthplace of Theobroma cacao, the tree that gives us chocolate, but it's also a crucial point for the Earth's environment. Due to the popularity of chocolate, it serves as a representative of the rainforest to humanity.

Beyond the plantations, farms, and orchards, wild cacao trees thrive along the riverbanks of the Amazon and its tributaries. This is where the story of our chocolate begins.

Luisa Abram works with indigenous families in the Amazon to gather wild cacao from the forest. By doing this, they create a financial barrier against deforestation, which is caused by logging, mining, drilling, cattle grazing, soybean farming, resort hotels, and other activities that contribute to climate change and damage the Earth's surface.
